After the Deal
Prior to completing a transaction, discuss the post acquisition integration plans with your prospective buyer. At this time you have more control and leverage to influence the final integration plans. Key areas to cover are:
- Define your ongoing role in the organization and exit plan.
- Plan the timing, structure and content of communications to customers, employees and vendors.
- Outline the key integration areas, including IT, Finance, Marketing, Sales and Operations.
- Review employee retention and address any special compensation issues.
It is typical that the first days following a transaction are filled with anxiety for the buyers, sellers and employees involved. Having a clear understanding of the expectations and roles post transaction can dramatically reduce stress and help ensure a successful integration.
